Day 3: God Draws Me Out

Updated: 7 days ago

Key Verse:

"He sent from above, He took me; He drew me out of many waters." - Psalm 18:16

Reading: Psalm 18

Devotional:

This world, and the sin that encompasses it, makes me feel afraid. Death seems ever-present, and Satan prowls like a roaring lion seeking to devour me (1 Pet. 5:8). In these moments, my fear and anxiety increase, often giving way to a heavy sense of despair.

Yet, in these moments of fear and uncertainty, I remember God from my childhood. The same God who saved and delivered me. He drew me out of the waters that tried to overtake me. He delivered me from those who hurt me. He supported me. Why? Because He loves me. He delights in me. I am created by Him and wear the title “Child of the King.”

Now, because of His strength, I can stand. He has armed me for battle, prepared me for war. He girded my waist with truth, put on my breastplate of righteousness, shod my feet with peace, handed me the shield of faith, and gave me the helmet of salvation through His Son, Jesus Christ (Eph. 6:14-17).

All I have to do is show up, because He promises to take care of the rest. Then, I can sit at the feet of Jesus and proclaim, “The Lord lives! Blessed be my Rock!”

Apply:

  • Reflect on a challenging situation in your life now. List one or two practical steps you can take to trust God to rescue you. What will you do differently?

  • In what situations does the world feel overwhelming to you? Provide specific examples.

  • How can God make us stronger according to this Psalm?

Prayer:

I will love You, O Lord. You are my strength, rock, fortress, and deliverer. I can trust in You to do what is best for me as Your child. You are my shield, the horn of my salvation, my stronghold, and You alone are worthy to be praised. You will protect me from my enemies and uphold me with Your righteous right hand.
