Day 2: God Triumphs Over Evil

Updated: 7 days ago

Key Verse:

"But You have seen, for You observe trouble and grief, to repay it by Your hand. The helpless commits himself to You; You are he helper of the fatherless." - Psalm 10:14

Reading: Psalm 10

Devotional:

At times, it may feel as if the Lord is distant. In this life, you may face moments of loneliness and wonder where God is during your difficult situations. It might appear that others are moving ahead while you barely hold onto hope.

During these moments, it's important to remember you are not alone. Take the time to stop and seek God’s face. Talk to your Father. Let Him know your feelings are hurt. He can relate. Remember the time He wept when His friend Lazarus died (John 11:35). He came to earth and experienced everything you are feeling at this very moment.

My friend, God is with you. Do not get caught up in all the spiritual hype we sometimes encounter in church. Sometimes God is found in the quiet, still moments of each day.

An answered prayer nobody heard you pray. A bird flies overhead, reminding you that it’s those who wait on the Lord who gain strength, not those who rush ahead (Is. 40:31). An opinion went unshared or an evil word went unspoken because you asked God to shut the mouth of that lion. He did, and He will continue watching out for His child. He has not left you. Maybe you have just lost sight of Him and His good works.

Apply:

  • Describe times when your enemies seem to prosper while you face challenges. How does that make you feel?

  • What does David ask of God?

  • Our situation changes, but God is unchanging. In what specific ways does David demonstrate or acknowledge God’s unchanging nature?

Prayer:

Lord, You are the King forever and ever. I ask you to arise, lift your hand, and do not forget your humble servant. You are “The-God-Who-Sees,” as Hagar referred to you in Genesis 16. You know everything taking place around me. Even when I cannot see, You can. Let me not forget that you are in control.
