When Love Fails, God's Love Prevails

I have been reflecting a lot on the sacrifices made by others this Memorial Day Weekend. Men and women gave their lives while serving in the military to provide us with the freedoms we still enjoy today. I do not deserve such great love from people I will never meet, but I am incredibly grateful for these men and women.

Their good deeds keep bringing me back to the cross. God loved us so much that He created a plan, knowing man would disobey Him in the Garden of Eden (Gen. 3).

In John 15:13, Jesus says, “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” God’s love for us prevailed the day He gave His life for us on the cross. He laid down His life so we might live with Him again.

1 Colossians 1:13-14 shows the love God had not only for His Son but for His people. “He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.”

There is absolutely nothing I did to deserve the kind of love Jesus brought down to me. Also, there is nothing I can do to separate myself from this love.

Romans 8:38-39 reminds us, “For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

When you see how God’s love is perfect and without fail, then you become victorious. In Romans 8:37, Paul proudly proclaims, “Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.”

My friend, can you hand your feelings of worthlessness to Jesus and let Him love you? Will you allow Him to fill your heart with His great love and stop relying on others to fill this void for you? Can you let go of negative relationships that are sucking the life out of you and pulling you further away from Christ? What about dumping the abuser for the Almighty?

Become victorious through the love of Christ.
