Key Verse:
"The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace." - Psalm 29:11
Reading: Psalm 29
Devotional:
Worship can take on many forms. You can turn off the radio and use that time to pray during your daily commute. Read your Bible in your car during lunch. Go for a walk while listening to praise music or a podcast-the spiritual kind, not the murder mystery type. Just thought I’d better clarify:) Sing at church. Attend church. Get plugged into a small group.
The enemy’s number one priority is to keep you from worshiping God. When you begin to see God answer your prayers that no one heard you pray, you begin to tell people of the goodness of God. Satan hates us talking about the strength of God and how he pulled us up from deep waters.
When I think of God speaking the world into existence, it gives me peace knowing He is in control. His voice alone can break the strongholds of hurt and pain in my life. The voice that allowed the waves to come upon me can speak the words, “Peace be still,” and everything will become calm again (Mark 4:39). The voice that takes a life also gives life, along with new beginnings.
I can rest knowing God sits on His throne. He sees everything taking place around me. I can trust He will bless me as I am a child of the King, which is why He is worthy of all honor, glory, and praise.
Apply:
It is easy to receive from the Lord, but in what ways should you desire to give back to Him?
The same voice that said 'Peace, be still' can calm your storms (Mark 4:39). Do you believe this is true? Why or why not?
How do the words at the end of this Psalm give you hope?
Prayer:
Thank You, Lord, for speaking this creation into existence. Help me remember You are there in the good times and bad. No matter my circumstances, let nothing stand in my way of praising You. Let me also remember You are still the voice in the wilderness calling me by name. You have a great purpose and plan for my life. Help me set aside time to read Your Word to find out what the future holds.
